How often do we take our skincare for granted and then complain about the breakouts. Everyday pollution can damage your skin and make it lose its natural glow. Skincare doesn’t essentially have to be high maintenance. Following some simple steps every night before your beauty sleep can help heal it and keep it healthy.
Step #1. Cleansing
The first step is to prepare your skin. Cleansing removes the dirt accumulated on the face throughout the dirt and cleans the skin. Go for a gentle cleanser that doesn’t wash off your skin’s natural oils or disrupts its microbiome. You can use a water based cleanser to remover the water based free radicals and an oil based cleanser to remove the base makeup properly. Oil based cleanser is ideal for dry skin.
Toning helps in hydrating the skin. It balances the pH and the moisture level of the skin and hence can be considered as a hydrating step. Toner is a water like product packed with antioxidants or humectants, which helps in hydrating the skin. Apply the toner on your skin and let it absorb. You can even use rose water as a toner for glowing skin.
This step could be customized as different kind of skins have different needs. You can choose the treatment your skin requires and use the products accordingly. Most people use serums for treatment or skin prescriptions if any. This step is also for spot treatments on specific areas.
It is essential to use moisturizer twice a day. Once in the morning and once before going to bed. This last step helps retain all the goodness and makes sure that your skin stays hydrated. Go for a hydrating moisturizer to make sure that your pores don’t get clogged. For oily skin you can go for a water based moisturizer and for dry skin, go for a long lasting hydrating moisturizer.
Pro tip: It is ideal to exfoliate the skin at least once a week to remove the excess stubborn dirt and clean the blackheads and whiteheads. It helps in opening the clogged pores and keeps your skin healthy.
