Three meals are never sufficient for the day. While working or traveling or even watching we movie, we like to munch on something but it gets really difficult when you’re watching your health. Snacking doesn’t always have to be chips and all the other fried and unhealthy stuff. Here are options for a healthy snacking.
Nuts are considered as super foods and make a nutritious snack. They have the perfect balance of fiber, proteins and healthy fats. Nuts are very filling and studies say that if eaten in moderate amounts, they can even help in weight loss. Since it is a low maintenance snack and doesn’t require refrigerating, nuts make the perfect snack for when you’re traveling.
Who said all the chips have to be unhealthy? Kale is highly nutritious, contains fiber and is rich in antioxidants like quercetin and kaempferol. It helps in reducing the risk of colon cancer and also decreases the blood pressure. Kale chips are usually baked with olive oil and not fried to make them the healthiest chips you eat.
This one goes without saying. All fruits are healthy. Just pick up your favourite fruits, cut them and mix them in a bowl with a pinch or rock salt and you’re good to go. Or just pick up a fruit any time you feel like having a snack. You can choose the easy to eat fruits like banana, apple, grapes, oranges and more while traveling to avoid the hassle of cutting them.
Eggs are rich in proteins and hard boiled eggs can make a good snack for when you have some time. They are very filling and will keep our hunger away for longer. Just hard boil a few eggs and cut them or slice them. You can even use mixed herbs or oregano seasoning to add some flavour since they’re bland in taste.
Greek yogurt with berries
Greek yogurt is rich in calcium, potassium and even fiber. It makes a great snack by itself but with added berries it is even more tasty and nutritious. Berries are rich in antioxidants and combined with greek yogurt you get all the goodness in one bowl. Just take some greek yogurt and put in some berries and enjoy the delicious snack while watching that movie.
