5 Sustainable Fashion Brands

Fashion industry is among the most polluting industries today. Fast fashion is leading to increased waste and pollution. Fashion industry, alone contributes to 10% of world’s carbon emissions and 20% of water pollution worldwide. It it continues, it can lead to around 26% of the world’s carbon footprint by 2050.
A recent research shows that 88% of consumers want fashion brands to contribute positively towards environment or atleast avoid environmental degradation.
Even, brands have started to realise and thus moved towards sustainable fashion.
Following are some brands with shifted focus on environmental friendly production:

1-Tentree
Tentree plants 10 trees for every item purchased and also gives it’s customers a code so they can track the growth of trees. By 2030, it is expected to plant 1 billion trees.
It’s clothing is made from ethically sourced and sustainable materials including cork, coconut and recycled polyester. It is also produced in ethical factories.

2-Everlane
Recently Everlane released a line of clothing made from recycled plastic bottles and other reused materials.
Everlane ensures transparency by sharing with customers the exact breakdown of the cost of each item and showing the factories where garments are made. It also builds strong relationships with factory owners to ensure that the employees and production meet Everlane’s high ethical standards.

3- Patagonia
Patagonia not only uses sustainable materials in its outerwear, but it also helps customers repair their clothing instead of buying new items. Patagonia follows fair-trade practices and closely monitors its supply chain to make it safe for the environment, workers and consumers. Its goal is to find solutions to environmental issues without causing unnecessary harm to the world. Because the products are so durable, customers are encouraged to recycle old Patagonia gear and purchase items second hand.

4-Levi’s
Denim requires huge amounts of water to create one pair of jeans. However Levi’s new collection ‘Water<Less, saves upto 96% water.
Levi’s is committed to sustainability through the entire design and manufacturing process, including working towards 100% sustainably sourced cotton and recycling old jeans into home insulation.

5-H&M Conscious
Fast fashion is leading to environment degradation. H&M is moving away from fast fashion by usinv organic cotton and recycler polyester. It hope to reduce its environment footprint by adopting more sustainable production techniques.
Customers can also recycle unwanted garments at H&M stores and get a discount for a future purchase. Thus, it works on making environment a better place by 2030.
