One out of 13 people in the world suffer from anxiety. Stress and anxiety is common considering the lifestyle that we follow in this century. Every now and then, we feel the need to take a step back and relax. But for some people, it can get more difficult than that and it can start affecting their daily routine. Here are a few tips to help you cope up with anxiety and stress in the daily life.

 

Sleep well

A good night’s sleep is essential for the mind and body. Set your alarm for the same time and have 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night. A good sleep routine will help you to manage stress better as it positively affects the mood and stress level. It’ll make you calm and help you to focus on things rather that stressing.

 

Limit the caffeine, alcohol and nicotine intake

Alcohol is a depressant and over drinking may cause you to feel sad and stressed. Limit your overall alcohol consumption and avoid drinking on days you already feel stressed or anxious. Similarly, caffeine and nicotine are stimulants. They make give you the momentary relief but they actually increase the stress levels instead of reducing.

 

Sweat away the stress

Exercising can lower down the stress level and anxiety by managing the stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. When you’re feeling blue, go out for a run or hit the gym for half an hour. It will effectively elevate your mood and make you feel better.

Try relaxation methods

There are a lot of relaxation techniques to calm down the mind and lower the stress levels. Try breathing exercises and meditation to feel calm. You can even try self-hypnosis. There are a lot of podcasts and videos available on the internet to assist you with your meditation and hypnosis sessions.

 

Set realistic goals and manage your time

One of the main reasons we feel anxious or stressed in daily life is because we set unrealistic goals that we don’t match. Set realistic goals for the day, week or month and plan accordingly keeping the time and deadlines in mind. A properly set routine and goals with help you manage things better and reduce stress.

 

It’s okay to sometimes take a backseat and give yourself a break. Being too hard on yourself will not make things easier, rather it’ll hinder the process and your productivity.
