China is slowly coming under scrutiny from many countries, led by the US. It is being accused of fudging its coronavirus numbers and increasing the gravity of the disease by concealing information. Its latest standoff with India along the Ladakh and Sikkim border has aggravated the concerns.
China is engaged in provocative and coercive military and paramilitary activities in India and other neighboring countries. It is doing so as an attempt to eliminate perceived threats to its interests and advance its strategic objectives globally, the White House said in a report on Thursday. This comes a day after the White House had insinuated that the Chinese threat was not just rhetorical but real as in India. Indian and Chinese armies had rushed in additional troops in areas around Pangong Tso and Galwan Valley in Ladakh.

The report also attacked Beijing’s ambitions which compromised the sovereignty of strategic American allies. There was a multi-pronged attack on various fronts. Let’s find out the full text of this approach taken by the USA which can further escalate tensions.
WHAT DID THE REPORT SAY ABOUT CHINA?
The report is titled ‘United States Strategic Approach To The People’s Republic Of China’ submitted to the US Congress. The White House had launched a scathing attack on China for its “predatory” economic policies, military buildup, disinformation campaigns, and human rights violations.
The report had this to say about China –
“As China has grown in strength, so has the willingness and capacity of the Chinese Communist Party to employ intimidation and coercion in its attempts to eliminate perceived threats and advance its strategic objectives globally.”

It further said –
“Beijing contradicts its rhetoric and flouts its commitments to its neighbors by engaging in provocative and coercive military and paramilitary activities in the Yellow Sea, the East and South China Seas, the Taiwan Strait, and Sino-Indian border areas.”
These concerns have to be addressed by China. It is disparaging to see that it would violate the autonomy of other countries. Let’s see how things shape up in the coming days. They depend on whether China decides to frame a response later.
