Even after the coronavirus pandemic has devastatingly ravaged the United States of America, the political blame game continues. President Donald Trump who is desperate to get re-elected has been trying all the tricks in the book to deflect the blame for the 90,000+ deaths in the country.
His latest clash is with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). CDC works under the aegis of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and part of the Trump administration. Trump’s trade advisor Peter Navarro has been very critical of the CDC and has tried to blame it for the crisis.
“Early on in this crisis, the CDC, which really had the most trusted brand around the world in this space, really let the country down with the testing.”
Donald Trump is now at loggerheads with Anthony Fauci who has been at the forefront of the US’s COVID fight.

Fauci warned that a premature lifting of lockdowns could lead to additional outbreaks of the deadly coronavirus. Anthony Fauci directs the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
“There is a real risk that you will trigger an outbreak that you may not be able to control.”
Trump called the warning unacceptable and said the US was “back” with or without a vaccine.
“I don’t want people to think this is all dependent on a vaccine,” Trump said on Friday. He announced the US efforts to develop a vaccine that would be ready to deploy by 2021, within eight months. This timeline contradicts many health experts, who say a vaccine will take 12-18 months to develop and test.
“Vaccine or no vaccine, we’re back. And we’re starting the process,” Trump said, adding that he would like to see schools open before the end of the year.
As the US begins to reopen, the dangers of the disease returning have compounded. Texas has reported its highest single-day increase after it allowed nonessential services to run. We can only hope that better sense prevails. Ignorance shouldn’t rule over the dead bodies of Americans. Politics needs to be separated from this dangerously bloody crisis in the country.
