“Currently Unemployed” – Malala Yousafzai Graduates From Oxford

Malala Yousafzai has played a monumental role in the fight for women’s right to education. The Nobel Prize laureate became the face of the Taliban’s oppression when she was shot on her way to school at the age of 15. This was an assassination attempt, a retaliation to her activism and her fight for education.

The Pakistani activist has now achieved a personal milestone, one that is representative of her fight as well.

Malala took to social media to announce her graduation from Oxford University, one of the most prestigious universities in the world.

“Hard to express my joy and gratitude right now as I completed my Philosophy, Politics and Economics degree at Oxford.”

She was pictured covered in confetti and food, which is called “trashing” and is “a ceremony in which students are covered with confetti, foam and food after completing their exams,” according to The New York Times.

The other picture showed Malala with her family and a cake.

She also spoke of her future plans in the post, more like a recently graduated student than a world-renowned activist.

“I don’t know what’s ahead. For now, it will be Netflix, reading and sleep.”

The news of Malala’s graduation first broke out when she participated in the #DearClassof2020 YouTube special on 8th June.

At that time, she shared that she had “four more exams to go”.

The New York Times reported that during her time in Oxford, Malala had joined the cricket club, the Oxford Union, a debating society, and the Oxford Pakistan Society.

She also uploaded a picture of herself after “trashing” on Instagram story on Friday, saying that she was done with exams, currently unemployed, going to sleep for days, and would need new shows to watch.
