For nearly a week now, people all over the world had been praying for the safety of ‘Glee’ star Naya Rivera, after her son was found alone on a boat.
On 8th July, Naya’s 4-year-old son Josey was found asleep on a boat at Lake Piru in Ventura County, California. This led to an extensive search for Naya, one that turned into a mission to recover her body after she was presumed dead on Thursday.
Authorities have now confirmed that the body found entangled in shrubbery in the lake is Naya’s. The star was confirmed to have died at the age of 33.

WHAT DID THE AUTHORITIES SAY ABOUT THE DEATH OF NAYA RIVERA?
The Sherrif’s office also revealed that Naya died after her pushing her son onto the boat to save him, but couldn’t save herself.
Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said –
“We know from speaking with her son, that he and Naya swam in the lake together at some point during their journey. It was during that time that her son described being helped into the boat by Naya, who boosted him onto the deck from behind.”
He added –
“He told investigators that he looked back and saw her disappear under the surface of the water.”
“The idea perhaps being that the boat started drifting, it was unanchored, and that she mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself.”
Her death left millions of people in mourning. Naya played a queer character in ‘Glee’, and was an immensely inspirational figure for many members of the community.
