We have all struggled to make our foundation as realistic as possible. No matter how hard we try, it just doesn’t look perfect. We always seem to be far behind celebrity makeup artists who can make the foundation look like second skin. Ariel Tejada is one of them.
At the young age of 24, Ariel has managed to make his mark in the world of makeup. He currently works as Kylie Jenner’s makeup artist. He is already one of the best in his field. After all, you don’t see Kylie out with cakey foundation, do you?
In a video with Shay Mitchell on her YouTube channel, Ariel gave his 2-cents on the perfect foundation application. Frankly, Ariel’s 2 cents in this regard are more like $2 billion.
So, let’s found out what he said.
WHAT DID ARIEL TEJADA SAY ABOUT FOUNDATION APPLICATION?
MOISTURISE & STROBE
The first step in foundation application, acoording to Ariel, should be gel moisturiser. His moisturiser preference is La Mer Moisturizing Cool Gel Cream. Over that, he added a second layer of moisturiser, specifically the Embryolisse Laboratories Lait-Creme Concentrate.
Then, “just to be cute and add glowy skin,” he added the Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer Highlighter. Ariel also used brushes to apply both the moisturiser and the highlighter. He used a soft stipple brush for the gel moisturiser, and the smaller end of the It Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Complexion Perfection Brush #7 for the highlighter.

ADD OIL TO YOUR FOUNDATION
Another one of Ariel’s secrets for a flawless foundation. To improve the blendability of his foundation, he mixes in 1-2 drops of face oil with his foundation on the back of his hand. The warmth from your skin allows both the liquids to mix better. His foundation preference is La Mer The Soft Fluid Long Wear Foundation SPF 20. You can use a brush or a sponge to apply the foundation and oil mixture to your skin.
FOUNDATION FIRST, THEN CONCEALER
Many of us have a habit of applying concealer before we apply our foundation. Not to scare you, but if you do that, Ariel already hates you. Well, who can blame you? Shay does it too!
According to Ariel, applying concealer before your foundation is a HUGE mistake.
“You’re going to go in with your foundation and move and blend the concealer shade you have on your face. So now your foundation is ashy and you’ve removed the concealer you applied. It’s just a hot mess.”
