Freelancing has emerged out as a career option with great prospects. If you have planned to become a freelancer to earn your livelihood, but have no clue on how to proceed, here’s a guide:
1- Ask yourself why
Ask yourself why do you wish to become a freelancer? What is that is making you choose this as a profession. Is it just because people have started choosing it as a source of income? Or are their reasons like flexibility in working, working without pressure, and from the comfort of your home? If the second one is your answer, proceed further.
2- Identify skill
Freelancing isn’t a job. It is a way of doing job. You obviously need to have a set of skills to offer in order to earn. Look for what interests you and what you are good at. These may include content writing, graphic designing, video editing, data entry etc. Choose what you really exel at.
Look out in search of platforms and make your profile, with which you will get clients and work. If you are new you can make account on sites like fiveer, upwork, freelancer etc.
You might have heard people saying, work from free in the beginning to earn experience and learn work. However, I won’t suggest that. You shouldn’t sell your skills for free. If you are a beginner, work at a lower rate. For example, in content writing, 0.20₹-0.30₹ per word in the initial projects. And later you can grow on to even 2₹ per word. So look out for work and grow your profile, and eventually your earnings will grow.
