The social messaging platform Twitter has appointed a new Head of Global Brands. Former Chief Client Officer at Amobee, Katie Ford has been confirmed for the role. She will be succeeding Melissa Barnes, now the Managing Director of Canada and Latin America at Twitter. This announcement is the latest in a string of executive recruitments this week
Ford has a vast knowledge of managing major accounts like P&G, Kelloggs, USAA and Coca-Cola from her 24-year stint at Publicis Media. Moving to Amobee, she executed two major acquisitions within 18 months, working on the company’s brand identity re-launch and driving client growth. She has served on the advisory board of many successful ventures.
Katie Ford will be taking care of Twitter’s global advertising partnerships and key brand accounts. “I am thrilled to be joining the team at Twitter as Head of Global Brands, where I will have the pleasure of partnering with the world’s biggest brands that are driving innovation at a global scale,” said Ford, “There has never been a more exciting time to join the company, and I am looking forward to continuing the momentum established by the team.”

Finding the right leader who can both support the strength of this team and help set it up for the next phase of growth and success requires a special leader, which is what we found in Katie.”
Twitter is in the process of introducing new tools designed to improve the health of public discourse to maintain a brand safe environment. With Twitter going on an executive hiring spree, it will be interesting to see what changes will happen at the company and what direction will the social media platform take.
