Concerns that people have while going on a date is that the other person might not look like their picture, or that they’ll have weird eating habits. Being a victim of cannibalism is something that wouldn’t even cross someone’s mind when going on a date. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened with Kevin Bacon when he went on a Grindr date on Christmas eve.
WHO WAS KEVIN BACON?
Kevin was a student at the University of Michigan-Flint and also worked as a hairstylist. He went on date with a man he met on a popular dating website, Grindr. A missing person’s report was filed by Bacon’s family on 25th December after he failed to show up for a family holiday breakfast.
WHAT HAPPENED TO KEVIN?
Mark Latunski confessed to killing Kevin by stabbing him and then tying a rope around his ankles and hanging him from the ceiling. Furthermore, he admitted to cutting the victim’s testicles off with the same knife and then eating them.
HOW WAS HE FOUND?
Authorities found Bacon naked and hanging by his ankles from the ceiling in Latunski’s apartment, 30 minutes away from campus. He has been charged with one count of open murder and one count of mutilation of a human body. Latsunki is currently being held without bond at Shiawassee County Jail.
A welfare check on Latunski’s home was performed by Michigan State Police and the Clayton Township Police Department on 28th December. They had obtained evidence indicating that Bacon had been present at the venue on 24th, court documents obtained by MLive report.
IS THIS LATSUNKI’S FIRST OFFENCE?
Mark was accused of taking two of his four children from their mother in 2013. His ex-wife filed a motion to suspend his parenting time. The motion stated that he was diagnosed with depression, paranoid schizophrenia, and exhibits traits of a personality disorder. Moreover, he spent 4 days in jail for failing to pay child support.
WHAT WAS THE REACTION TO KEVIN’S MURDER?
Kevin’s father, Karl Bacon said “He has used the mental health card to get out of situations in the past and he’s attempting to use it again, I would like to see him locked up for the rest of his life in some form or another.”
Kevin’s death garnered the attention of the masses. His funeral and candlelight vigil, held in Swartz Creek High School, was attended by nearly 300 people.
