OnePlus TV and OnePlus 7T Finally Here

Earlier this month, we had mentioned about the latest expected features from the OnePlus TV. Well, the wait is finally over as the OnePlus TV has officially been launched in India today; along with the much-awaited OnePlus 7T.

OnePlus TV Q1 –

OnePlus TV Q1 Pro and OnePlus TV Q1 support has a 55-inch 4K display with a QLED panel. The OnePlus TV Q1 Pro and OnePlus TV Q1 support Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, apart from HDR10+. The OnePlus TV Q1 Pro features a motorised soundbar, which extends outward from the TV itself. The soundbar has eight speakers with two of them backward facing and six forward facing.

OnePlus comes with a carbon-fiber reinforced back panel. The ports are neatly hidden behind a magnetic back plate shroud, which also has room to accommodate cables. The swivel stand is called the deck and is made out metal (OnePlus didn’t mention which one).

Amazon Prime, Netflix, Voot, Sun NXT, Eros Now and YuppFlix are some of the media consumption platforms that would available on the OnePlus TV. Also the OnePlus TV has a DCI-P3 Gamut score of 96% and 120% NTSC Gamut. It beats Samsung and LG and provides higher saturation and vividness, claims OnePlus. It will come in handy for gamers because of this, says OnePlus.

The speaker bar lowers down from the bottom of the TV and rises back into the body when not in use.

The software is Android TV, for coherence with OnePlus’ phones, and works with both Google Assistant and Alexa. OnePlus has a huge share of the premium phone market in India, and will be looking to transfer that brand equity into the living room. No word on pricing just yet, nor when the TV will be sold elsewhere. “We are also working hard to launch OnePlus TV in North America, Europe and China regions as soon as we establish partnerships with most of local and regional content providers,” Lau said last month.

OnePlus 7T –

The OnePlus 7T adopts the 90Hz AMOLED screen offered on the 7 Pro, coupled with a three-camera set up on the rear.
That last bit keeps with the company’s solid design language, with a large, circular configuration that’s an aesthetic improvement over Apple’s square situation. The lenses are a 48 megapixel main, 2x telephoto and ultra-wide-angle with a 117-degree field of view.

The speakers have been upgraded to include Dolby Atmos and fast charging has been amped up, promising a full charge in an hour. That’s nearly 25% faster than OnePlus’s previous version of Warp Charge.

Perhaps most interesting is that the company gets the jump on the competition by being the first to ship with Android 10 preloaded. How far the company has come from the CyanogenMod days. Of course, it continues to offer a customized experience through the “bespoke” OxygenOS.

So the OnePlus 7T is powered by the Snapdragon 855+ SoC and it has two variants with 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. The smartphone has a 3,800mAh battery and ships with a 30W fast charger, which OnePlus dubs Warp Charge 30T.

OnePlus 7T price in India is Rs. 37,999 for the 8GB/128GB variant and Rs. 39,990 for the 8GB/256GB variant. OnePlus 7T will be available from September 28.

So in the US sector, the OnePlus 7T will run $599 when it starts shipping on October 18. It’s a nice price for a solid piece of hardware in an era when flagships routinely run in excess of $1,000.
