Rage against increasing women based crimes resulted in strikes in Mexico

Abigail Guerrero Mondragon was playing with her nephew on her 6th birthday and gossiping with guests at her mother’s place.

Hours after which, her lifeless body was found near football pitches where the last man she had been seen with worked.

In her final moments, the 20- year old law student was seen with her new boyfriend, ivan, his buddy Juan Velaqsquez, and his cousin. All the three were detained. However, the within a day, they all were released without any charges.
Some evidences such as used condoms were found at the spot but not properly recorded.

Abigail’s mother, Araceli Mondragon stated that her daughter’s buddy had blood stains on his clothes.
Her mother also sobbed and told how heartless were officials in Mexico, who forced her to make statements despite the loss and trauma of losing her daughter, she was undergoing.
She was just one among then women who were murdered on 11 December 2016. And, this is rhe stats of crimes against women , which even triggered rage from Mexico’s feminist and women’s rights groups.
Maria de la Luz Estrada, President of the National Citizens’ Observatory on Femicide explained “In the past two years, over 8000 women were murdered, half of which show gender-based violence against women.”
