Everyone makes mistakes. But have you ever regretted sending a particular message on Snapchat and not being able to delete it?
Well, not anymore, if you have an updated version of Snapchat.
On June 11th, Snapchat came up with a new update that allows you to delete a particular message from the personal chats as well as group chats.
The Snapchat update comes as the parent company also expands the previously exclusive Spectacles 2.0 sales, including new availability on Amazon.
What was the scenario before this new update?
Earlier, Snapchat just allowed disappearance of the messages.
The messages which were sent to your friends or fellow Snapchat buddies, would be available for 30 days until both the parties have viewed that particular message. After viewing the message, or after closing that particular window, the messages disappear.
Also, under group chats, the messages are available in the message log for 24 hours, after which they just disappeared or vanish.
There was another feature which allowed a person to clear an entire conversation but there were no specific features to delete just a single particular message.
Why did Snapchat introduce this feature?
Snapchat has clearly been among the growing social media networks with many new updates with the app. Thus, giving the other apps a run for their money.
As per the latest news, Snapchat now joins the other social media apps, such as WhatsApp or Instagram by giving the users an opportunity to erase their mistake.
At times, you would end up giving a movie spoiler, or say something that you didn’t want to, auto-correct mistakes, etc. So a tool like this would prove to be very helpful just as it was seen among the WhatsApp or Instagram users.
Snapchat said, “Message deleting will be introduced in a phased manner around the world with more users gaining the feature in the coming weeks. Be sure to have the latest version of Snapchat to try the new unsend feature.”
Also, it must be noted that these updates on the various apps is done due to the GDPR rules, which is aimed to give the sole control and authority to the users.
How does the new Delete Messages feature work?
The feature is very simple to use. Just follow the steps mentioned below –
Step 1) Click on the Snapchat app.
Step 2) Swipe right or click on the message icon to have a look at your friends list, along with the ones you had recent conversations with, at the top.
