With around 1bn monthly active users, Instagram is right up there alongside Facebook and Twitter. With the rise of influencers, people can even make a living there (or at least get some free stuff).
In fact, there are a number of celebrities who frequent Instagram, ranging from actors to influencers to singers and even sportspersons. However, it is interesting to note which celebrities have the most number of followers.
Jennifer Lopez is a renowned actor and musician and JLo also puts a fair bit of effort into her Instagram account. With the usual fare of behind-the-scenes photos, music promotion, and videos, JLo also has a range of Story Highlights from events she attends and hashtags she’s created. She boasts of approximately 108 million followers
Unsurprisingly this list has a lot of musicians, and Nicki Minaj is the next one on the list. Her account is just liked you’d expect – lots of pictures from her tours and events, her personal life, and even a few of her fans. The rapper has around 109 million Instagram followers
Aside from having millions of Instagram followers, Taylor Swift is also the most influential person on Twitter.
That said, Swift is a far more prolific poster on Instagram than Twitter, with Story Highlights, shots from performances, and promotions of her latest work and activities (along with the usual selfies and personal life posts). TSwift has a fan following of 124 million on Instagram.
The first of the footballers on the list is Brazilian playmaker, Neymar. He is currently a forward for Paris Saint-Germain, though there are rumours of him wanting to leave.
Unsurprisingly for a sports star his account is full of pictures of him playing football, hanging out with other celebrities, and generally living the high life. The Brazilian superstar has 130 million Instagram followers.
Lionel Messi, the captain of Barcelona FC and the Argentinian national football team is another football star with a huge Instagram fanbase.
One of the world’s most famous players, his Instagram is what you’d expect: shots of him playing, a look at his own personal life, his dog, and an insight into other events he attends. Messi boasts of 139 million followers on the social media platform.
Arguably, the most famous of the Kardashian family, Kim also has the highest number of Instagram followers, with 155 million. Her account is, arguably, pretty similar to those of her family members. Lots of pictures from her modelling and the events she attends, along with personal stuff like old family photos.
A regular fixture in the most liked Instagram posts list, is musician and actor Selena Gomez. Her account is the usual pop star fare of selfies, herself at events, pictures of her friends, but it also includes a few political posts around subjects like women’s rights. The former Disney star has a following of 164 million on Instagram.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson
The wrestler turned movie star is one of the most in-demand people in Hollywood. Not many surprises on his account – there are lots of shots from filming, pictures of him in the gym, and posts about his family. Each of these images and Instagram stories are viewed by 166 million fans.
One of the most famous and popular singers on the planet, it’s natural she’d be so popular on Instagram (and she’s the most followed woman on Instagram, to boot). Her feed is is full of pictures of her performing, meeting other celebrities, and your general depictions of living the pop high life. Grande is followed by around 169 million on the social media platform.
We now reach our most followed human on Instagram: the soccer great, Cristiano Ronaldo. CR7 is a striker for Juventus and the captain for the national Portuguese team, he’s one of the best footballers the world has known.
When it comes to his feed, there are few surprises. There are lots of family pictures, shots of him playing football, and plenty of images of him generally experiencing the good things in life. It wouldn’t be surprising to many that he is followed by 195 million people.
