1-Coco Chanel

Coco Chanel is a true epitome of creativity. she is a self made woman, famous for her chanel brand and the little black dress. Chanel was raised in an orphanage by her father and there she was taught to sew. She opened her first shop in 1910 where she sold hats. Before which, she used to perform at cafes and had a diminutive career as a singer. She acquired the name Coco, when she used to spend her nights singing at the carabet. In the year 1920s, she launched her first perfume made of natural extracts and artificial essence named Chanel No. 5 worldwide. In the year 1926, she designed and introduced the “Little Black Dress” which was later known as “Chanel’s Ford”.

2-Giorgio Armani

 

Giorgio Armani is a fashion designer, popularly known for the uniqueness, elegance and style in the fashion line.

He changed the trend of fashion industry after creating his brand ‘Arman’. His fashion house captivated is every man’s desire across the world. Apart from clothing, Armani’s fashion house specializes in shoes, hotels, restaurants , fragrances for men and women worldwide. He also created many majestic suits for football athletes and Italian Olympians.

He started his career from a garments shop, ‘La Rinascente‘ , where he assisted a  photographer in arranging the window. Later, in 1970s, after mastering the craft, Giorgio started freelancing in designing new fashion. He also started sending them to other garment manufacturers. With time, he established his own brand in the year 1975.

Soon in 1979, Giorgio established Giorgio Armani Corporation. Initially started with clothing, underwear, swimwear and accessories for men and women, the company has now expanded into introducing more stylish products at affordable prices. Armani also drafts many Lady Gaga’s dress for many high-profile events like MTV and Grammy Awards. But this success didn’t come in a day.

3-Sabyasachi

Sabyasachi is a name that resonates with bridal wear in India. Every girl grows up with a dream to be dressed up in Sabyasachi lehanga on her big day. But this success didn’t come to Sabyasachi Mukherjee overnight.

He was born in a middle-class family. His mother was a professor and father with an average job. At the age of 15, he showed his interest in pursuing fashion. But, his parents didn’t support his decision because of financial constraints. But his interest into fashion designing didn’t decline. He ran away from home and went to Goa for a short while as his parents refused to fund his NIFT entrance exam. And there, Sabya had to sell off all his books to pay for his education with persistent hard work. After graduating from NIFT in 1992, he came up with his label with mere Rs. 20,000, which was borrowed from someone. He had only three employees; he continued the until 2002, when he debuted at India Fashion Week.

Sabyasachi is now one of the biggest names in the fashion industry with various flagship stores in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad and has a huge fan following even in the international market. In fact, for the brides who cannot afford his clothesline, he  he has also been providing them for free. He also started affordable, everyday apparel for women, and wants to be known for his diverse styles and not just for bridal wear.

4-Calvin Klein

Calvin klein is the youngest fashion designer, listed on the International best-dressed list, he is known worldwide for his extravagancy in the fashion industry. He owes it all to his mother who instilled in him a love of art and fashion. Calvin always knew he wanted to become a fashion designer and start his own company. He started his career by teaching himself how to sketch and sew. He also worked at his father’s grocery store to make extra money. And finally, in the year 1968, he founded his own company, Calvin Klein Ltd., with a friend as his business partner.

Since then, he didn’t look back and expanded his business with an incredible pace across the world. His company also specialises in perfumes, jewellery, and sportswear.

5-Louis Vuitton

Everyone has a dream of owning that iconic LV bag in their wardrobe. But it wasn’t easy for Louis Vuitton to get there. Louis was born in a labour class family, and his ancestors were farmers and carpenters. When he was 10, his mother died and father remarried. But his step mother was harsh and rude. When he was 13 he left for paris and worked as an apprentice for a box maker ( it was a highly respectable craft back in 19 century Europe). He was hired by Napoleon’s wife to be her box maker. He later opened his own shop that gained a lot of popularity amongst the masses. But the civil war disrupted his career. He then went on to open another shop in 1892 and grew his supremely luxurious leather and lifestyle brand with his commitment, aesthetic sense and business skills. Since Louis’ death, it is managed by his son who carried the father’s passion after his death.
